StayFocusd Reflection

After trying out StayFocusd on my computer, I realized how much time I spend on distractions and how I can limit this time-wasting. Although some of my main distractions like Snapchat are only available on my phone, there are websites like Vine and Youtube that make losing track of time beyond easy.
One of the most deceptively harmless websites out there, in my opinion, is Vine. I am fooled by the deceptively short length of each video-loop into thinking a browsing experience will not take too much time. I set the StayFocusd clock for 10 minutes and then began browsing. In the time-warp-world of Vine, those 10 minutes passed in a fly, and I was grateful Stayfocusd was on, lest I wasted more than 10 minutes of my precious time.
I did, however, encounter an issue in my usage of Stayfocusd. I began my trial of the extension over winter break, and figured a useful site to block might be Youtube. I watched a couple of videos and was blocked after the set 10 minutes. Later that day, I encountered a fairly-time sensitive situation that required me watching a how-to video, but I was not able to do so before entering StayFocusd and changing my reset time. Through this experience, I came to the realization that the main problem with StayFocusd is that it assumes that any time I am on my computer, I am working or studying, but this can be solved by exercising just a touch of foresight.
